Overview of Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE)
Monday, May 9, 2022 | 8 am – 5pm
Cost: US$400.00 pp /US$100 VFS student members
Organized by the VFS Systems Engineering Technical Committee
This year’s Vertical Flight Society 1-Day MBSE short course will cover a broad range of topics. Organized by the VFS Systems Engineering Technical Committee, this multi-presenter course will provide attendees with basic understanding of MBSE in the context if the overall engineering lifecycle with an overview of key concepts and capabilities so they can begin to assess the value and applicability to their projects and engineering organizations.
An MBSE short course was offered during the virtual Forum 76 (2020), which was an introduction to the SysML and UAF modeling languages with a focus on MBSE adoption. The Forum 78 MBSE short course will begin with a short overview of MBSE and then cover a broad range of topics relating to MBSE from the very basic “why are people using MBSE?” to covering the capabilities that are available when integrating MBSE in with other tools and analyses.
The morning session will include a brief overview of the systems engineering lifecycle and model based systems engineering followed by an introduction to:
• The Systems Modeling Language (SysML)
• The CATIA Magic/CAMEO tool suite
• Key concepts, principles and practices in MBSE
• The MagicGrid method
The afternoon session will cover more advanced topics including:
• Simulation of descriptive and analytical models
• Integration of CAMEO tools with other 3DS products
• Model Lifecycle Management
Sessions will include presentation slides and live demonstrations by MBSE experts from CATIA/No Magic, including Barry Papke, Chris Klotz, and Saulius Pavalkis.
